It’s funny how some things in life come full circle.

And family travel is definitely one of those things. For yours truly, it couldn’t be more true. My personal travel journey started as a young girl on Long Island. A family road trip from New York to Florida lit a fire in me, igniting my lifetime of wanderlust. (Read my post “My Family Road Trip History Comes Full Circle” by clicking here: https://followmyyellowbrickroad.com/?p=515) . So it’s not surprising that when I had a family of my own, I’d want to continue traveling and sharing the world with my husband and kids. And this dream was fulfilled throughout their school years. Road trips, National Park visits, cruises, European vacations…the family unit that traveled together, stayed together. Because…

Before you know it, your kids will be all grown up!

To all the moms out there — Time does fly! Cherish every moment (even the ones in which you want to pull your hair out!), take a deep breath because in a blink of an eye your kids will be young adults. Look at this photo! My daughter’s first cruise!

My daughter and her daddy all dressed up for a cruise dinner! One of my all time favorite photos.

If you’re lucky enough, one day, your kids will pay it forward.

And that’s exactly what happened to me. In the summer of 2019, my daughter, who is now 23, suggests we take a vacation together– just the two of us. No brother and no father. Just a Mother Daughter trip. Our vacation choice is a 4-day Mexican cruise on the Majesty of the Seas. https://www.cruisemapper.com/ships/Majesty-Of-The-Seas-665.

Honestly, I never thought that one day my daughter would want to take her old mom on a cruise! Talk about my travel journey coming full circle!

So join me on a Mother Daughter Mexican getaway that I will cherish forever. It all started with a…

A flight into Fort Lauderdale

Arriving early afternoon the day before our cruise gave us an opportunity to chill, walk around and have a nice meal. We stayed locally where our hotel provided a shuttle to the cruise terminal the next day.

The next morning, we boarded our cruise to start our Mother Daughter Mexican getaway!

Enjoying the sun, relaxing and, of course, having a tropical drink were the activity choices of our first cruisin’ day.

The cruise was perfect for us since it is mostly an all inclusive vacation. Alcohol, tips and some onboard activities cost extra but everything else is paid for upfront. And the cruise lines offer an array of onboard activities and services — so you can participate in as much or as little as you want. Something to please everyone. We could do as much or as little together. And if I wanted breakfast and my daughter chose to sleep in, all was good!

Delicious meals and entertainment. Enjoy the slide show!

Costa Maya, Mexico

was our first cruise stop. The small port of Costa Maya is located in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula south of Playa del Carmen, near Belize. It was transformed into a cruise ship destination in 2001 and was rebuilt in 2007 after the devastating hurricane Dean destroyed it.

We chose to take a tour to the Chacchoben Ruins, the largest Mayan ruins in the area. They are located only about a 50 minute ride from the Costa Maya Port.

Absolutely amazing!

After exploring the ruins and discovering its history, we were taken to a beach side lunch. And of course, where ever I go, I meet a new furry friend!

Cozumel, Mexico…

was our next stop. A day trip to a local beach resort was perfect. We spent the day relaxing, sunning ourselves and making new cruise friends. After a day of the beach, souvenir shopping was in order before we boarded our ship for the last night of our wonderful vacation.

All good things come to an end.

To my daughter, thanks for the beautiful memories.
